Japanese submarines collided civilian ships

 

A Japanese submarine crashed into a fishing vessel in the Pacific Ocean, the extent of damage and casualties unknown.

A submarine belonging to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) collided with a civilian ship, apparently a fishing vessel, as it emerged from the waters off the southern coast of Kochi province today,

The civilian vessel suffered no damage, and the extent of the damage to the submarine is unknown.

Japan operates 20 Oyashio and Soryu class diesel-electric submarines, with a Soryu class and a Taigei class undergoing trials.
